  • BRA’s

A friend of mine sent me an email regarding buying bra’s……..

Marks and believe it or not Matalan have a small range, not inspiring. However, since having my second mastectomy I have been buying Gennie bras from TV, they are so comfortable and supportive; ok they do not rock the boat, but they cost approx £10, and depending on a person’s needs can be bought through internet some-what cheaper.

    Hope that is helpful

I must admit I use Marks or John Lewis’s.

When I went for my first fitting for my new prosthetics I was taken into a ‘cupboard’, where there was hardly room for Emma, the fitter & myself.

The whole experience was horrendous, the fitter told me she had no pairs of prosthetics only single ones & I would have to wait. She wanted me to tell her what size I wanted. When you have geared yourself up for the fitting & perhaps feeling halfway feminine again this was not what I wanted to hear. In the end she found a pair & I took them, regardless of size.

I left & went to John Lewis’s for coffee. After fortification we wandered into the lingerie department, where a lady named Sue took me under her wing, found me bras helped me into them & treated me with dignity & care……I could have cried. I felt so much better once I was properly fitted, clothes hung correctly again & I felt I was emerging from under a cloud & getting back to my old self.

  • Ladies Pink Night at Friends Bistro

35 ‘Pink Ladies’ took over Friends Bistro in Great Yarmouth. Jenny, the owner organised a wonderful evening, with a pink theme, food, decorations & drink.

After an appetising two course meal, the tables were cleared & the dancing & noise commenced! Jenny played 70’s & 80’s music & the dancing started. I could not believe how much noise 35 women ( & Brian) could make!! The doors were open & passing pedestrians kept popping in to see what was happening.

Overall that evening we raised £360 plus £103 already raised from selling badges on the counter in Friends. A fantastic amount of £463.

A really Big Thank You to Jenny & her staff who made the evening such a success & to all the new friends we made on the night ….. lets do it again soon??

  • Debenhams

Went shopping today & was impressed with Debenhams, they are donating £1 from every bra sold. The money going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Breast Cancer Campaign and Pink Ribbon Foundation. This is part of their ‘Think Pink’ initiative.

Would have been a lot happier if the staff had been more helpful though…I asked about post surgery bras, they said they did not sell them but if I wanted to buy something related they were selling ‘pink wellingtons’ .

I think in this informed age, when everyone is now so aware of breast cancer, shops like Debenhams should have a range of bras available for women who have had surgery. Why should I have to buy my lingerie online…as advised?

BUT John Lewis’s in Norwich have a small selection in store & the staff are really helpful.
